Victoria was the first Australian state to ban the use of hand-held mobile phones while driving (in 1988). Since then, mobile phone ownership has increased exponentially, and the functionality of phones has become more complex and engaging.
From 9 November 2009, rules relating to talking on your mobile phone while driving will be changed to reflect the current traffic conditions. This will help road users get to where they're going as safely and efficiently as possible.
As part of communicating these changes and alerting drivers to the dangers of driving whilst talking on a mobile phone, VicRoads has developed CityGT - a free iPhone App designed to deliver the safety message in an interactive and innovative fashion.
